Know
the Signs
Knowing the
work zone signs—and driving according to what they tell you—is
the first step in motoring safely through roadway construction, maintenance
and
utility sites. By "signs" we mean more than just the orange
metal plaques. Our definition includes all the temporary traffic control
devices—cones, drums, barricades, barriers, warning lights, signals,
arrow boards, message signs, and pavement markings. Whether they are
placed on, over or next to a street, road or highway, they serve to warn,
regulate and guide you through work zones.
Take this
short quiz to test your knowledge of signs and other temporary traffic
control devices in roadway work zones. You may learn a few new things
about signs and devices, including how they help you navigate safely
through these challenging sites.
